During the weekend of 7th and 8th June 2003 our friends from Villainville crossed the water to visit Newchurch Parish.

We had a lovely weekend.

Arrival of visitors at Ryde Pier Head

All the visitors came on the 8.00 ferry from Le Havre to Portsmouth, they arriving at Ryde Pier Head after 14.00.

7 June

15.30

Games/sport activities for the children on the Village recreation field.

Some trips to Sandown Pier, Cowes, Newport, Shanklin and Godshill (etc) were arranged.

7 June

19.00

Barn dance and BarBQ in the Community Hall.

Aperitifs to start followed by a BarBQ/ salads and desserts. Wine and soft drinks provided.

Followed by a Barn Dance.

Raffle during the evening.

8 June

Assemble in Newchurch Car Park for a trip round the Island via coach.

Lunch in Yarmouth.

Visit to Carisbrooke Castle

Back in Newchurch

Lovely trip through Whitwell, Niton and along the Military Road (as far as it was open), through Freshwater to Yarmouth.

 

 

8 June

Evening

The French with their host families.

Lots of parties got together to enjoy the evening. (This time the English beat the French at Croquet!)

9 June

French visitors to be transported to the catamaran at the end of Ryde Pier.

Trips to Newport, Ryde etc in the morning. And of course trips to Safeways or other "English hypermarkets"!
