Alverstone Poetry GroupAlverstone Poetry group is made up of a group of people who love poetry. The group meets in Alverstone Village Hall on the third Wednesday of the month from 2.30 - 4.30 pm Norma Aston is the resident reader and she always does a first class job, although others are encouraged to read poems to the group. Each month there is a different theme for the poetry reading.
Sometimes members give brief but useful biographical details of the poets concerned so that the poems can be better appreciated. Some of the members write their own verse and they are encouraged to read some of their own poetry to the group.
Tea is served at 4.00pm
There is no annual membership although the costs of the hire the hall and other minor expenses have to be met and a charge or 50p per meeting is levied. The poetry group is an informal group and visitors are always welcome. Please ring Faith Day on 403871 or John Smith on 865451 if you have any queries.
