February 2006

In addition to the monthly meeting on 20th February the Council met as a Planning Committee on both Thursday 2nd February and Thursday 9th March.  The monthly meeting started at 7.00pm with a presentation by Sue Chilton of the IWC on the future of Community Partnerships and their relationships to Parish Councils. Councillors considered three Planning Applications: no objections were raised to two of these but it was resolved by a majority of 5 to 1 to object to a proposal for change of use at Woodlands House, Embassy Way (near Sandown airport).

The state of the Noticeboard outside Alverstone Hall was brought to the attention of the meeting and it was agreed to ask Mr Warne to undertake repair thereof. It was also agreed to accept a quotation for repair and repainting of the external woodwork, including window frames, of the Parish Hall. The meeting was pleased to note that its applications for a grant from the NPS&CA had been successful.

In view of the date of Easter this year it was agreed that the April monthly meeting should be postponed to Monday 24th and be preceded by the Annual Parish Meeting the same evening.
