monthly meeting was preceded by the annual Cemetery Inspection during which
several minor works of maintenance were identified. Steve Lewis of the Isle of Wight Rural Community Council (RCC) addressed the meeting on “Parish Plans”. It was resolved that an invitation should be extended to all parishioners to contribute to the formation of a “Steering Group” and a meeting to form this Steering Group will be held at 7.00pm in the Parish Hall on Monday 21st August 2006. The meeting learned that there had not been a demand for an
election to fill the ‘casual vacancy’ and therefore the Council was at
liberty to co-opt another member. At the request of parishioners, and following
representations from local residents, ‘Activity and Development at Sandown
Airport’ was included on the meetings agenda. After some discussion, it was
resolved that the IWC should be asked to reinstate and co-ordinate a Sandown
Airport Consultative Committee. The meeting considered eight Planning Applications,
including two relating to fences. The Clerk was instructed to query the
relevance of planning permission in relation to these two if the properties were
subject to restrictive covenants in their title deeds.

PARISH PLAN
Newchurch Parish Council has received a
grant to assist in the production of a “Parish Plan”. Parishioners who wish to be part of, or contribute to, the Parish Plan Steering Group are invited to attend a meeting on: Monday 21st August
2006 at 7.00pm
in the Parish Hall.
