Activities in Newchurch Village

NEWCHURCH WOMENS INSTITUTE.

A very active Institute, which meets in the Church Hall on the first Wednesday of each month (except August) as well as other meetings for recreational activities.

NEWCHURCH LADIES CHOIR.

The choir was originally the Newchurch W.I. Choir, and was formed 40 years ago. The choir gives concerts all over the island as well as in the Parish of Newchurch. Practices are held in the Parish Hall, Newchurch on Wednesdays at 7.15 pm.

This choir is now the only Male Voice Choir on the Island. It was first formed 35 years ago. Practices are held in the Parish Hall, Newchurch on Fridays at 7.30 - 9.30 pm. The conductor is Roy Bevan.

This is a well established group which is going from strength to strength. The group produces at least 3 productions each year which includes a pantomime in February. In 2002 they won the CP award for the best Village production. The group meets in the Community Hall, Newchurch every Thursday at 7.30pm.

The Newchurch Art Group holds annual exhibitions of its work. It meets in All Saints Church Hall on Tuesday evenings, at 7.45 pm.

Newchurch Bell Ringers meet on Thursdays at 7.30 pm in All Saints’ Church, Newchurch. The ringers play for the service on Sundays at 9.00am as well as at weddings. New members welcome.

NEWCHURCH TWINNING ASSOCIATION.

The Twinning Association was established in 1990 and a happy and active friendship has developed between the people of Villainville in Normandy and the Parish of Newchurch. Every year there is a visit sometime in May or June with the visits alternating between trips to Villainville and our French friends coming over to Newchurch. In June 2003 there is a visit in June to Newchurch by our French friends. Anyone interested in joining in with the Twinning please contact :

1ST NEWCHURCH SCOUT GROUP.

The Group welcomes boys and girls ages 6 – 14 years to join in with the fun of Scouting.

CUB SCOUTS: Meet Wednesdays, 6.00 -8.00pm, in the Church Hall, Newchurch.
