September 2005

No monthly meeting was held during August.

At the September meeting, which was preceded by an inspection of the cemetery, Mrs Deborah Price was welcomed as a co-opted member to fill the casual vacancy that had arisen after the Parish Council election earlier this year.

The meeting learned that the purchase of the land adjacent to All Saints churchyard above Newchurch Shute was nearing completion. It was agreed that a working group to consider the future use of the land should be formed and that the Community Partnership, the Parochial Church Council and the Newchurch Parish Sports and Community Association should be invited to send representatives to the group and that parishioners should be invited to serve on the group. It is intended that the first meeting of the group will be held in October.

The meeting considered four Planning Applications to which it decided to make no objection.

The Clerk reported that the Annual return had been submitted to District Audit and gave details of the quotation from the IWC for the supply and erection of “Knighton” nameplates, which the meeting agreed to accept. It was also decided that the Parish Hall sub-committee should meet before the next monthly meeting to discuss redecoration and improvements to the Parish Hall.
