The WI is all about today's women developing their talents and having a positive impact on the world around them.

The first Women's Institute was founded at Stoney Creek, Canada in 1897 by Adelaide Hoodless and Mr Erland Lee. It was an offshoot of the Farmers' Institute.

bulletThey now have links with 8 million women in over 60 countries. On joining the WI you become part of the worldwide organisation, Associated Countrywomen of the World. ACWW is a consultant to the United Nations.

The WI is all about today's women developing their talents and having a positive impact on the world around them.
